What a fun place to eat. I came in with my sister on Thursday morning for breakfast. Only one person running the floor, and he was really nice and provided great customer service. Coffee was good. My sister ordered the eggs benedict with portobello, and it tasted amazing. I got the huevos rancheros and that was pretty good too. A little spicy. Overall, this is your regular neighborhood diner with delicious food. I think it's a little overpriced, but maybe I'm just used to 2000s Denny's. Street parking in case you are curious. This is located right on greenwood.
Got this place for delivery and it was amazing! Their fried breakfast burrito was filled with loaded potatoes, beans, hashbrown, carnitas, and eggs. On the side, they provide you with sour cream, cheese, and red sauce so that the burrito doesn't get soggy. It was a hefty burrito and definitely had leftovers. But what was even bigger was their chicken fried steak! It was massive (as you can see in the photo). The gravy came on the side as well. Wish the food was a bit more seasoned but other than that, would come back!
Lunch with the boss so cost-wise couldn't have asked for any better. I ordered the vegetable hash served on a bed of hash browns (an additional request) and it was fantastic. Very crunchy hash browns in the best way and the vegetables/eggs were cooked to perfection and seemed very fresh. My boss's Denver-style omelette looked great as well. Definitely seemed better food than your average dinner The service was fantastic, we were checked on multiple times and the coffee and food came out very fast. Granted, we were the only people in there at 1:30pm on a Thursday. The vibe inside is pretty unique, inviting, and fun. Love the bar and hexagon windows near the booths. Only negatives would be the music and tv content. Horrible like hyper-pop / k-pop / video game soundtrack music playing very loudly. No hate on your taste in music but this is not the right vibe for a sit down restaurant imo. One tv was playing Portlandia which was awesome but the other had a YouTube walkthrough of Zelda's Breath of the Wild. Which is cool, but there were about a trillion YouTube adds which is no fun to have in your peripheral. That's all thanks!
Incredible breakfast spot that has a bit of an interesting asian/astronomical vibe to it. As a San Diegan I have to say that the breakfast burrito more than satisfied my craving and everyone at the table thoroughly enjoyed their meal. There's plenty of things for your eyes to wander around to here and the staff was pleasant and prompt on a Sunday morning. Would definitely come back!
What a great spot! Super cute interior with equal parts astronaut decor and a hint of the orient as well. The staff was super friendly and made up for a few small faux pas (empty ketchups and hot sauces, no espresso that day, etc...) but over all a great diner. We simple basic breakfasts: eggs, hashbrowns and sausage. Short stack for something sweet. The portions were great, the eggs perfectly cooked. I look forward to coming back and working my way through the menu.
Great food and fast service! I was not expecting such deliciousness to be honest, but left with wow, what a great little diner with friendly staff and quirky interior. I highly recommend! PROS: - fantastic location, fun interior, plenty of street and neighborhood parking available - no lines, quick seating and cash out - good menu with plenty of options to customize - friendly and accommodating staff - good portions, tasty well cooked food! My favorites are the country Benedict with extra crispy hashbrown, French toast! CONS: - a bit dingy, old bar seats that sink in and are uncomfortable. They need to update their furniture. Flies around the place were constantly trying to eat the food! Very unappealing - main dishes are on the pricey side, like 20% more expensive. I was disappointed that I didn't get more hash brown with a $21 item or a drink, and ended up having to order a side of hashbrowns. Guys - If you're charging me $25 (tip + tax) for a simple brunch, you better provide free drinks and a lot more hashbrown. It's okay to charge more just because you're in the city, but you're competing with other brunch places and you're not sweetening the deal.
North Star Diner serves breakfast all day as well as other lunch items. I ordered to go and was surprised by how good things were. Chicken fried steak: the portion was giant! The accompanying gravy was pretty good as well - creamy, full of flavor, and delicious.
I love this iconic brunch spot. With one other dining companion, we split the order of their standard breakfast plate (big dipper) and chicken fried steak + eggs. They also have an option of a pitcher of mimosa which is not offered at many places around town and fun if you're having some funday Sunday brunch with friends. I think my favorite thing from here are the pancakes which really are cooked and flipped to perfection. I could just eat stacks upon stacks! Service is always lovely even though they are often very busy - I will say depending on what time you get there, you may be in for quite the wait but trust me it will be worth your while. The vibes in here are also super fun - divey but thematic! Add this place to your brunch spots and you'll be in for a grand time.
